Reflection Losses in Transmission Lines

தமிழ்

Reflection losses occur in transmission lines when there is an impedance mismatch. This mismatch causes part of the signal to be reflected back towards the source, reducing the power delivered to the load.

Two important parameters used to quantify reflection losses are the reflection coefficient (Γ) and the VSWR.

Key Equations:

Reflection Coefficient (Γ) = (ZL - Z0) / (ZL + Z0)
VSWR = (1 + |Γ|) / (1 - |Γ|)

Where ZL is the load impedance and Z0 is the characteristic impedance of the line.
